Exam Prayer

Exam study

Let's face it, exams are stressful!  Very few people wake up in the morning thinking "I wish I could take an exam today". The way to prepare for an exam is hard work, there really is no other option.  Alongside this preparation we can pray.  Prayer is not a short cut to good grades, (if only it was that easy), rather prayer is a way of asking God to help us as we prepare and to give us peace in the middle of the stress.

Does prayer work?

We believe that when we pray we are communicating with God who hears and responds.  Through the Bible and personal experience we know prayer makes a difference.  We would love to pray with you as you do your exams, whatever exams they might be.  When we pray for you we are not expecting that you will get straight A grades without any work, rather we are asking that God would protect you as you study, help to keep you calm and to do the best that you can in this often stressful process.  We believe that God created us, loves us and cares for and about us.  We therefore know that when we pray God is interested in what we talk to him about and that because he loves us he will respond to these prayers in His ways, in His time – He is God after all!

What happens when I click ‘Get Prayer’?

When you click the ‘Get Prayer’ button the information you have entered gets submitted to our ‘to pray for’ list.  A prayer volunteer will read what you have written and begin to pray for you up to and during your exams.  Prayer volunteers are chosen by Youth for Christ Gloucestershire for this task and will treat your prayer request in the utmost confidence.  Your prayer request will not be shared with anyone else, we will simply pray for you.

What about my personal information?

We do not collect any personal information about you, we do not ask for your contact details. We therefore will not be able to contact you regarding your prayer request or any other matter.  All prayer requests will be deleted after your exams.  You can read our Privacy Policy here.

A final word

One important thing to remember is that your exam results do not define you.  The Bible tells us we are created by God and each of us is "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139 NIV)  God has a plan and a purpose for you.  It is important to study hard and do your best as this will open up doors for you.  We should make the most of the talent we are given but God does not love us because of our exam grades, he loves us because we are His creation.  We want you to do as well as you can in your exams but more importantly we want you to know that God loves you.

When we're praying for you, it's nice if we can know your name. We don't need your full name, just your first name.

What exams would you like prayer for? Feel free to include dates and subjects or simply put GCSEs, A Levels, etc.
